Sennheiser Sets New Standards for High-End Audio Receivers Using AWR Software

Date:

April 30, 2009

Who:

AWR and Sennheiser

Story:

The radio frequency spectrum in music halls and concert venues has become more and more congested, with numerous wireless devices transmitting and receiving at various frequencies within an extremely small area. Many artists like Cline Dion and Alicia Keys rely on concert audio receivers from The Sennheiser Group to ensure their performances achieve superb, interference-free audio quality. To ensure that its new EM 3732 audio receiver would meet this challenge, the company designed a varactor-tuned bandpass filter for the receivers preselector that delivers exceptional intermodulation capability.

Using AWRs high-frequency design tools, Sennheisers designers were able to achieve the +20 dBm third-order intercept ability required to ensure optimum interference rejection. Microwave Office high-frequency design software and APLAC harmonic balance simulation tool were used exclusively throughout the flow, from circuit through system design, measurement and verification, and yield optimization.
