AWR's Analog Office 2007 Software Supports OpenAccess Database and Interoperable PCell Libraries Project
Latest Release Further Solidifies the Company’s Commitment to Third-party Integration and Tool Interoperability
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — May 21, 2007 — Applied Wave Research, Inc. (AWR®), a leading provider of high-frequency electronic design automation (EDA) tools, today announced that its new 2007 release of Analog Office® design suite supports design layout export to an OpenAccess-based database using interoperable PCell libraries (IPL). The ability to access true interoperability among integrated circuit (IC) design tools through an open standard data application programming interface (API), and to use PCell libraries with common design data standards across multiple processes, reduces development costs associated with database translation and shortens time-to-manufacture for designers trying to keep pace with the demands of modern wireless product development.
“I am excited to be rolling out AWR’s first production version of an OpenAccess compliant EDA solution,” said Sarkis Narkizian, vice president of RFIC business development at AWR. “Our company was founded on the concept of an open software platform enabling ease-of-use and the ability to integrate best-in-class tools for each part of the design process. The integration of OpenAccess technology in the 2007 release of Analog Office RFIC design software is a big and logical step forward as the company realizes its strategic vision of providing interoperability between tools from differing vendors. Additionally, the OpenAccess compliance is a natural extension of our existing integration with the Cadence Virtuoso platform.”
AWR is one of five pioneering EDA vendors who recently announced an agreement to collaborate on the creation and distribution of an IPL library that will enable designers, for the first time in semiconductor industry history, to use the same PCell libraries in tools from all OpenAccess-based tool vendors. This project is being driven by the growing demand for the adoption of standards for PCell development in order to simplify the ability to communicate essential process data, including functionality, performance, and predictability of the target process.
Additional key features and benefits included in Analog Office 2007 software are:
- Shrink RFIC layouts through better analysis with Helic’s VeloceRF parasitic extraction technology for whole-chip radio-frequency (RF) extraction, modeling, and verification including inductor-to-inductor and inductor-to-line coupling
- Perform all simulations and optimizations including system, circuit (APLAC, Hspice, Spectre), parasitics, and electromagnetic (EM) simultaneously in a single environment
- Perform seamless IC – Package – Module and Board co-design utilizing multiple technologies
- Accelerate RF design cycle with more robust Intelligent Net™ 2 (iNet2) model for faster and more accurate design, simulation, extraction, and layout of chip interconnects
General availability of Analog Office 2007 design suite is scheduled for Q3 2007. A controlled customer release or beta version is available immediately for select customers with support contracts. The product supports Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and Linux. U.S. list prices for yearly, time-based licenses range from $5000 - $40,000 depending upon configurations.
