Advanced Microwave Office® Features (3 day course)

Intended Audience: 

This 3-day course should be taken by the designer who wants to be able to use the advanced features in Microwave Office. The attendee is shown how to customize the software to meet his or her specific needs so that it can be used to its full potential. The course is broken up into four major sections: customization of the user environment, circuit simulation, layout features, and electromagnetic simulation and extraction.

Prerequisites: The attendee is assumed to have a basic, working knowledge of Microwave Office.  This can be achieved by either taking the Microwave Office for Designers course, or working through the online training modules: Introduction to Microwave Office, Layout Overview, Harmonic Balance Overview, and EM Overview.  Please contact training@awrcorp.com if you would like advice on what training is appropriate for your background and needs.

Day 1: User Environment and Circuit Simulation

  • Customization: Hotkeys, Toolbars, and Scripts
  • Making your own templates and libraries
  • Working with Multi-Dimensional Data Sets and Graph Control
  • Harmonic Balance Control with APLAC®
  • Advanced Harmonic Balance Features: Multi-rate HB™ and Constant Output Power
  • Transient Simulation Control (if attendee interest)
  • Output Equations
  • Controlling optimization and yield analysis

Day 2: Circuit Simulation and Layout

  • Simulation Filters
  • Switch Views
  • Features for Large Projects and Group Design
  • Layout: The Layout Process File (LPF)
  • Artwork Cell Libraries
  • Negative Layers
  • Vias and Drill Holes
  • Export Options

Day 3: EM Simulation and Extraction

  • Setting up the EM Socket™
  • Controlling EM Extraction
  • Understanding Ports and Deembedding
  • Controlling the Mesh
  • Simulation Options: Direct and Iterative Solvers
  • Circuit Extraction: iNets™ and ACE™ (if attendee interest)

Cost:

3 day courses $1500 per person including breakfast, snacks and drinks, lunch and parking fees. There is no refund if cancellation is made after May 18th.
