Sales Application Engineer (Germany)

This job is for a person to take responsibility for AWR's business in Central Europe (Germany, Austria and Switzerland). The role requires both a strong technical background and the ability to perform basic sales functions such as forecasting and contact database management.  The role will require extensive customer travel throughout the region and regular customer meetings.

Job Responsibilities

  • Qualifying leads for AWR software
  • Engaging customer and understanding their design process
  • Demonstrating and presenting AWR software
  • Managing customer evaluations
  • Share responsibility for target achievement in the Central Europe region
  • Occasional post-sales support, usually first line support only
  • Attendance at trade shows within Central Europe

Requirements

  • Either a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronic Engineering which includes some RF and Microwave courses/modules.
  • Experience at university or preferably in designing components such as filters or amplifiers using AWR's Microwave Office or other ADS products.
  • Strong RF and Microwave theoretical knowledge. Experience with designing a FET amplifier or understanding a heterodyne receiver is ideal.
  • Fluent in the German language (preferably mother tongue) and competent to communicate verbally or by e-mail in the English language.
  • Outgoing personality with the confidence to give PowerPoint presentations to large audiences, product demonstrations and to be able to discuss customers' design processes with them.
  • Other personality traits must be compatible with a customer facing role i.e. persistence, assertive, good organisational skills, energetic and happy working within a team, etc.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (up to 50% of working week).
  • Possess a full valid driving licence and an EU passport.
  • Must be prepared to spend a month in the UK training when first joining the company (return at weekends is OK).
  • Ability to work on own initiative and self-reliance - devising travel plans, visit plans, etc.
  • Ideally 5 years' experience working in microwave component design or in a technical sales role selling or supporting sales of high value, high technical complexity capital goods (such as RF/Microwave test equipment).
  • Experience of RF system or sub-system design preferred.
  • Experience of electromagnetic simulators like HFSS from Ansoft or Microwave Studio from CST would be an asset but not essential.

Compensation

Depending on the candidate's experience, the salary will comprise a fixed element and a commission including 7% of salary as a pension contribution.
